Australian Apprenticeships & Traineeships

Australian Apprenticeships enable you to earn an income, learn, and gain a nationally recognised qualification, all at the same time. You need to be employed as an apprentice before you can start your training course. To do this, contact employers directly or register your details with an employment service/Job Network Provider.

Be passionate about the industry you want to work in!

Apprenticeships are available to anyone of working age and can be full-time, part-time, or school-based. Mature age apprentices may be re-entering the workforce or changing careers. You do not need to meet any entry requirements.

The Skills Institute offers a wide range of training in traditional trades, business, hospitality and community services. An apprenticeship will take you between one and four years to complete depending on the qualification and your existing skills and knowledge.

Your training may be held in the workplace or at our training facilities located across Tasmania.
Some qualifications include 'blocks' of training, online learning or self-paced learning.

The Skills Institute offers apprenticeship training in the following industry sectors:

Agriculture, Air Conditioning, Automotive, Beauty, Business, Community Services, Construction, Cookery, Decorating, Electrical, Furniture, Gas, Glazing, Hairdressing, Health, Hospitality, Information & Communication Technology, Instrumentation, Laboratory Operations, Logistics, Manufacturing, Metals, Mining, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Signwriting, Telecommunications, Tourism, Transport, Wine.
