Prerequisites

Participants must have a White Card - selected unit “Work Safely in the Construction Industry” (CPCCOHS1001A) and wear workshop clothing and safety shoes/boots. Disposable overalls provided.

At your work site or at the Clarence, Alanvale and South Burnie training facilities

This course enables participants to develop the skills and knowledge required to encapsulate, safely remove, and dispose of friable asbestos containing materials, whilst adhering to regulations and procedures for personal and site decontamination as described in the: How to Safely Remove Asbestos, Code of Practice 2011.

Assessment will include a practical simulation of friable asbestos removal and a written assignment regarding asbestos removal control plans.

Participants will learn to:

  • Prepare for asbestos removal
  • Prepare asbestos removal area and removal site
  • Enclose removal site
  • Carry out the removal of friable asbestos
  • Carry out decontamination process
  • Clean-up work site.
  •  Contribute to and use documentation in line with regulatory requirements
