Health and Safety Representative Gap Course

Work Health and Safety (WHS) is about ensuring safe and healthy working conditions, and preventing illness and injury in the workplace. 

With the new Work Health and Safety Act 2012 coming into effect in Tasmania on January 1, this gap course will give existing Employee Safety Representatives (ESRs) the additional knowledge and skills required to fully participate as a Health and Safety Representative (HSR).

The attendance of the gap course will qualify the HSR to give directions to cease work under section 85 of the new Act & to issue provisional improvement notices (PIN’s) under section 90 of that Act. The HSR will also be entitled to attend the annual refresher training. 

Outcome: A Statement of Attendance.
Prerequisites: Participants must have completed the 4 day ESR course during 2012.
Location: Hobart, Launceston and Burnie training facilities.
Cost: $250 per person.
Duration: 1 day.

Hobart: Wednesday 29 May, Wednesday 3 July, Thursday 8 August, Wednesday 11 September, Wednesday 16 October or Wednesday 20 November 2013.

Launceston: Tuesday 6 August or Tuesday 27 August 2013.

Burnie: Tuesday 2 July or Tuesday 19 November 2013.
