Prerequisites

You must wear appropriate clothing and safety footwear.

Location

At your work site or at the Clarence, Alanvale and South Burnie training facilities.

Cost

$200 per person. Course prices for single employer groups are negotiable.

Control Traffic with a Stop/Slow Bat

This course will give road reserve personnel the theory and practical skills to control traffic on public roads and construction work sites for the protection of site workers and the general public. The course is a mixture of class theory and practical ‘live’ supervised training.

Participants will learn:

  • To plan and prepare the worksite.
  • To use a stop-slow bat.
  • To operate a radio.
  • To coordinate traffic.
  • To clean up.

Implement a Traffic Management Plan

This course will give road reserve personnel the theory and practical skills to control traffic on public roads and construction work sites for the protection of site workers and the general public. The course is a mixture of class theory and practical ‘live’ supervised training.

This unit includes traffic management plans for public and private roads, parking areas and restricted access construction sites.

Participants will learn:

  • To plan and prepare the work site.
  • To set out, monitor and close down the traffic guidance scheme using signage.
  • To clean up.

Requirements:

Traffic control at work sites in Tasmania must be carried out in accordance with the AS1742.3. Personnel who undertake operational traffic management activities must complete both of the below units and complete refresher training at a maximum of three year intervals.  

  • Control Traffic with Stop-Slow Bat (RIIOHS205A)
  • Implement Traffic Management Plan (RIIOHS302A)
