The Skills Institute is a key strategic partner for the Aurora Energy Training Centre for the delivery of our trade apprentice program and other technical training. We have long had a relationship with the former TAFE Tasmania but have found that the introduction of Customer Relationship Managers under the new TSI structure has made a big difference to our business. The CRM provides us with a single point of entry into the TSI across all departments and regions. One of our frustrations previously was having to deal with three different regions for the same type of training. We find the CRM works hard to understand our business and needs as a customer and delivers on expectations.
The TSI is a customer focussed organisation and is prepared to listen to our needs with the way training is delivered or the type of training required. As a consequence, we are able to operate more efficiently ourselves.

"The Skills Institute provides targeted, appropriate, time-efficient training to a diverse range of our employees on a number of high-risk tasks. The assessors adhere to a high standard of quality during the assessment process so I am comfortable that employees who gain certification can be relied on to perform their tasks safely."

Luke Hardy hit the panic button when he discovered his forklift licence was no longer valid and he had to start a contract job with Toll Transport within two days. Luke tried unsuccessfully to get into some other training courses, but it wasn’t until he called the Skills Institute that he hit some luck. “Luke called me late on the Tuesday to ask about forklift licence training and at first I thought we wouldn’t be able to help him – he had to start work on the Thursday,” TSI trainer/assessor Tony Rattray said. “But I was able to move a few things around and fit him in.” Luke, a truck driver, was looking for some casual work to supplement the lulls in his work time. “I’m really grateful to Tony for fitting me in. Without that course I wouldn’t have the work,” Luke said.
The Tasmanian Golf course Superintendents Association, via President Stephen Lewis, has expressed his members' appreciation of the work of TSI's Mark Potter. Mark's knowledge and experience in the turf industry and his "rapport with Turf managers and (his) hands on experience with what is expected of apprentices". This has led "to confidence by the industry and the number of apprentices/trainees has now increased dramatically. The standard of committment shown by Mark will make the Skills Institute the preferred trainer for all employers of turf apprentices throughout the state".
