Outcome

A Statement of Attainment. Selected unit "Maintain Chainsaws" (FBICOT2237A), "Trim & Cut Felled Trees" (FPICOT2239A), "Fall Trees- Intermediate" (FPIFGM3204A).

Prerequisites

You must be 16 years of age or older. You must hold a current chainsaw licence. Some tree felling experience would be an advantage but is not essential. You must wear steel capped safety boots (lace-up), a safety helmet with hearing and eye protection. Plus a high visibility outer garment and cut resistant leg protection.

Location

Hobart, Launceston, Burnie and Queenstown.

Cost

$1215 per person plus TFITB licence fee if required. Course prices for single employer groups are negotiable.

Duration

Three days.

Gain the essential skills and knowledge to fall trees safely. All training is underpinned by occupational health and safety principles and associated legislative requirements.

Participants will learn:

  • To assess and develop an action plan for a new falling area and prepare the worksite.
  • Occupational health and safety policies and procedures in order to determine worksite precautions and prepare the worksite to the required standards.
  • To identify tree characteristics and to analyse their effect on the falling operation.
  • Approved falling techniques including chainsaw manipulation procedures for cutting scarfs and how to identify the appropriate scarfing techniques for a particular tree.
