In 2012 the State Government announced the reform of Tasmania’s Vocational Education and Training (VET) system, which will see the establishment of a single new VET provider in the State – TasTAFE.

TasTAFE will bring together the functions of the Skills Institute and the Tasmanian Polytechnic, ensuring a smooth transition for students and minimal disruption for industry employers.

TasTAFE will be phased in from July 2013, with full implementation estimated by 2014.
