A Statement of Attainment for a nationally recognised unit for the chosen welding process and level of competence.

Prerequisites

You must wear safety boots, combination overalls and clear safety glasses. You must supply your own welding helmet, welding gloves and oxy goggles.

Location

At the Hobart, Launceston, Burnie and Devonport training facilities.

Cost

$1030 per person.

Duration

32 hours (Eight nights at 4 hours per night).

This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to perform various welding and cutting tasks.

Participants may select from a range of welding and cutting processes:

TIG – Tungsten inert gas

MIG – Metal inert gas

MMAW – Manual metal arc welding

Oxy acelylene

Participants will learn:

  • How to apply safe welding practices.
  • To identify, select and operate welding equipment.
  • About types of welds and joints.
  • About weld faults and remedies.
