This course is for people who are currently employed in a horticultural workplace, and have a training contract. You could complete the full Certificate II in Horticulture within fifteen (15) months on the job. Depending on you and your employer’s needs, learning may be on-the-job, off-the-job or a combination of both.  

Course Includes

This qualification consists 15 units  - 2 core units and 13 elective units.

Core Units (compulsary)

  • Participate in OHS processes (AHCOHS201A)
  • Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices (AHCWRK209A)

Elective Units (a common selection of elective units is below)

  • Apply chemicals under supervision (AHCCHM201A)
  • Plant trees and shrubs (AHCPGD201A)
  • Undertake propagation activities (AHCNSY203A)
  • Lay paving (AHCLSC204A)
  • Recognise plants (AHCPCM201A)
  • Maintain property and structures (AHCINF203A)
  • Operate basic machinery and equipment (AHCMOM203A)
  • Determine basic properties of soil and/or growing media (AHCSOL201A)
  • Operate and maintain chainsaws (AHCARB205A)
  • Prune shrubs and small trees (AHCPGD203A)
  •  Maintain indoor plants (AHCNSY204A)
  • Treat weeds (AHCPMG201A)
  •  Assist with the operation of pressurised irrigation (AHCIRG202A)
