Work Health and Safety (WHS) is about ensuring safe and healthy working conditions, and preventing illness and injury in the workplace. This course provides employee safety representatives with a range of skills and knowledge that will enable them to effectively and responsibly represent their work group. This includes a working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2012, other relevant legislation and approved codes of practice. Participants will develop an understanding of health and safety committees and how to develop positive attitudes to WHS.

Participants will learn:

  • The principles of hazard identification.
  • To perform risk management.
  • About accident causation and prevention.
  • To investigate accidents.
  • About conflict resolution and management.
  • To participate in individual and group problem solving.

Work Health and Safety Units delivered are:

  • Apply knowledge of WHS legislation in the workplace (BSBWHS302A)
  • Participate in WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control (BSBWHS303A)
  • Participate effectively in WHS communication and consultation processes (BSBWHS304A)
  • Contribute to WHS issue resolution (BSBWHS305A)
  • Assist with responsing to incidents (BSBWHS406A)
