Outcome

A Statement of Attainment. Selected unit “Perform Basic Rigging” (RIIHAN209A).

Prerequisites

You must have completed “Dogging” - a pre-requisite for Basic Rigging. You must be 18 years of age or over for Worksafe Australia accreditation with a satisfactory level of literacy and numeracy skills. You must wear protective work wear for practical assessment (safety boots and gloves).

Location

At your work site or at the Clarence, Alanvale and Burnie training facilities.

Cost

$915 per person. Course prices for single employer groups are negotiable.

Duration

Four days.

ALANVALE:  Tuesday - Friday, 23 - 26 October, 2012.

The purpose of this course is to provide the underpinning knowledge and skills to perform basic rigging safely. It will prepare the participant for Worksafe Australia certification requirements.

Participants will learn:

  • About movement of plant and equipment.
  • About steel erection.
  • To operate particular hoists (cantilevered platform hoist - 500kg max materials only).
  • About placement of pre-cast concrete.
  • About safety nets and static lines.
  • About mast climbers.
  • About perimeter safety screens and shutters.
  • About cantilevered crane loading platforms.
  • To plan and prepare work.
  • To select equipment.
  • To connect gear.
  • To move and position load.
  • To remove slings and lifting accessories.

Participants are able to apply for a Licence to Perform High Risk Work “Rigging” as issued by the state regulator under the Workplace Health and Safety Regulations 1998.
