This program enables participants to develop the knowledge of what asbestos is, possible asbestos containing materials, as well as a basic understanding of the regulations for the safe removal and disposal of asbestos.

Participants will learn:

  • What is asbestos and where does it come from?
  • The potential health effects of asbestos.
  • Where asbestos containing materials (ACM) are commonly found.
  • Proper precautions and work practices when working around asbestos.
  • How to recognise asbestos hazards due to damage or deterioration.
  • Appropriate removal and disposal methods of ACM.
  • What OH&S regulations apply to workers who work with or work around asbestos and what aspects of those regulations affect you.
